John Rutter’s Suite Antique was first premiered alongside a performance of Bach’s Brandenburg 5. Rutter called for identical orchestration of harpsichord, flute, and a string orchestra. Each delightful movement is patterned on a Baroque or Classical style. The performance features Christine Gustafson, Professor of Flute at ECU and John O Brian, Conductor.
Lyyra is the all-women vocal ensemble from The VOCES8 Foundation and is based in the USA. ECMAEF is proud to present this concert of world-class choral artists in partnership with the S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series.

This year, we welcome Chase Douthit as a rising star in the organ world. Our Fisk Op. 126 has gained a reputation as quite a favorable performance instrument and we take great joy in inviting young stars to come and experience the particular beauty it offers.
Chase is a North Carolina native, and holds both a BM. and M.M. in Church Music from Baylor University. In 2021, he won 153 prize and the prize for outstanding hymn playing in the 50th annual William C. Hall Pipe Organ Competition. He currently serves as Assistant Director of Music and Organist at Trinity Baptist Church, Mooresville.

We are thrilled to welcome back Andrew Scanlon to open the ECMAEF 2026-27 season for the annual Cathee Jean Huber Recital. Andrew was previously professor of organ at ECU as well as Organist and Choirmaster here at St. Paul’s Episcopal. His album Solemn and Celebratory featuring this wonderful instrument was released in 2013.
Come and hear the Fisk reunited with an old friend.
British-born organist Charles Francis is a Master’s student at the Eastman School of Music whose accolades to date include first prizes in the IAO/Royal College of Organists Organ Playing Competition and The Dame Gillian Weir Messiaen Competition, as well as being awarded the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
